    BECOME A FIRST RESPONDER

    - Hospital Educational Services is offering First Responder Training. First responders are needed in all areas and currently exist in fire and police departments, construction, EMS dispatch, and industrial settings. They are trained to begin assessing and caring for patients before emergency medical personnel arrive and to assist with care after their arrival.

Skills taught include scene assessment and management, patient assessment, shock and bleeding control, bandaging, splinting, patient handling and extrication, and automated defibrillation. Course graduates are eligible to take the state certification exam.

The course begins Tuesday October 3 and runs through Wednesday December 13. It meets twice a week, on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. Space is limited.
